Developing SFSC for parents with learning disabilities

One of the four grants received from the Parenting Fund is enabling the Race Equality Foundation and CHANGE to work together to make the Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities Parenting Programme accessible for Parents with Learning Disabilities. This is being done through the use of easy words and pictures. The team working on this is Beverley, Helen, a parent with Learning Disabilities and Dan, an Illustrator.

Work has started with a diverse group of parents with learning disabilities including black and minority ethnic parents to review the SFSC material and manual. When it has been revised the team will pilot two programmes to parents with learning disabilities from a range of communities in Leeds.
